This actually happened in my geology lab 2 years ago. Two rocks were indistinguishable from each other except in taste, so we had to lick them to differentiate them. Add that to the list of things we absolutely cannot do in 2020…
After taking a road trip across America I set out to record folks from each of the 50 states reading a poem inspired by “America The Beautiful”. That goal was reached on May 25th, 2019 with a submission from the final state of Mississippi. The voices together act as the voice over for this short film.

Based on the poem “America the Beautiful” by Katharine Lee Bates.
dreamtime legends explore a past that defies the fierce urgency of now, elegies to a dramatic landscape, where eroded cores gradually became exposed, volcanic eruptions provoked by hidden faults, only broken fragments left behind, epochal witnesses to violent & unstable power—a testament to the strength & beauty that remains.

i saw you the other day dragon of the aragon region fiery as hell 🔥 fast as lightning⚡️ you told me loudly you were celebrating your birth and were calling all dragons to gather around i could hear you my old friend, for dragons hear dragons ▫️ (Train poem 9/17) Heading west from Barcelona to Bilbao, I got to see some of the vast and beautiful land of Spain. It reminded me of the Badlands in South Dakota, USA. I thought I saw a fiery dragon somewhere in the region of Aragon.
Kolsay National Park is located in Kazakhstan on a border with Kyrgyzstan and is 300 km away from Almaty. We went on a 3-day trip and this is what I captured when I was either taking pauses from hiking or wasn’t too lazy to take out my camera from the bag.
One long shadow of dusk.
But we also,
on the move.
A spring shadow,
sent from
the southern arcing sun.
Cool, even cold.
But warmth lingers,
long across the sky.
Delicate balance,
moments of wanting,
hanging on moments.
Falling backward,
falling on our our own
bodies.
Tension —
always the tension,
But particularly now.
